Healthcare and Professional Licensure Attorney
Eric A. Jones is the founder of Jones Law Group, LLC and a healthcare attorney with more than 25 years of experience in healthcare law, regulation, administration, and operations. His background includes private legal practice, Medicaid managed care, hospital leadership, provider contracting, credentialing, medical staff relations, professional licensure, regulatory compliance, revenue recovery, and civil litigation.
Few attorneys bring Eric’s combination of legal experience and firsthand healthcare-industry leadership. Before founding Jones Law Group in 2007, Eric held executive and regulatory positions with an Ohio hospital, the Ohio Medicaid program, and a managed care organization. This experience allows him to understand healthcare disputes from the perspectives of providers, hospitals, health plans, regulators, and government agencies.
Eric represents physicians, nurses, dentists, behavioral health professionals, and other licensed healthcare providers in matters that may affect their licenses, careers, professional reputations, and ability to practice.

Eric has represented hundreds of healthcare providers in regulatory, administrative, credentialing, disciplinary, employment, and civil matters. He works closely with clients to understand both the immediate allegations and the broader consequences that an investigation or adverse action may have for employment, hospital privileges, payer participation, professional reporting, and future licensing.
From 2007 through 2025, Eric also served as Outside General Counsel to the Ohio Osteopathic Association, advising the organization and its members on legal, regulatory, and professional matters affecting physicians and the practice of medicine.
Before entering private practice, Eric served as Assistant Chief of the Bureau of Managed Health Care for the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. In that position, he directed teams responsible for operations, compliance, procurement, contracting, policy development, and implementation for Ohio’s approximately $4 billion Medicaid managed-care program.
Eric helped develop and implement the statewide expansion of Medicaid managed care to approximately 1.25 million Ohioans, including Covered Families and Children and Aged, Blind and Disabled populations. His responsibilities included managed-care procurements, plan selection, contract development, compliance monitoring, administrative rules, federal waiver materials, and state-plan amendments.
This government experience provides Eric with valuable insight into how public agencies develop policy, interpret regulations, oversee contractors, investigate compliance, and make administrative decisions.
Eric previously served as Vice President of Physician and Community Services for Van Wert County Hospital. He managed medical staff services, physician recruitment, physician relations, provider credentialing, strategic planning, and administrative support for medical staff committees. He also negotiated physician employment agreements and income-guarantee arrangements and helped align hospital operations with medical staff needs.
Earlier in his career, Eric held several leadership positions with Health Power HMO. As Manager of Provider and Member Services, he supervised physician, hospital, physician-hospital organization, and ancillary-provider contracting; provider relations; network development; member services; and credentialing under National Committee for Quality Assurance standards. He also gained direct experience with delegated credentialing, fee schedules, provider reimbursement, health-plan policies, and provider-directory compliance.
Eric served for 14 consecutive years as Special Counsel to the Ohio Attorney General for collections enforcement and revenue recovery. Through Jones Law Group, he represented Ohio state-owned hospitals and other public clients and helped recover more than $50 million in accounts receivable.
His work included litigation, negotiation, collections strategy, regulatory compliance, operational oversight, and the development of efficient revenue-recovery procedures.
Eric also represents individuals seeking Social Security Disability Insurance and Supplemental Security Income benefits. He assists clients with disability applications, administrative appeals, hearings before administrative law judges, and related proceedings.
His healthcare background helps him analyze complex medical evidence and explain how a claimant’s physical and psychological conditions affect the ability to sustain full-time employment.
Eric earned his Juris Doctor from Capital University Law School, where he later received the Graduate of the Last Decade Award. The award recognizes a graduate who has achieved professional distinction and made notable contributions to the legal profession or the law school.
He also earned a Master of Business Administration from Capital University and a Bachelor of Science in Communications from Ohio University. Eric was admitted to the Ohio Bar in 2007 and scored in the 98th percentile on the Multistate Bar Examination.
