Jones Law Group attorney Robert A. Flaugher,  as Administrator of the Estate of Shahnaz Rumman, filed a lawsuit  in U.S. District Court for the Southern District of West Virginia at Huntington against Cabell Huntington Hospital Inc., University Physicians & Surgeons Inc., Marshall University Board of Governors, Jessica K. Granger, Christine V. Gutierrez, David C. Jude, Randy S. Kinnard, Brenda Brown and Alexis Daughtery, citing negligence, medical malpractice and wrongful death.

The plaintiff states from Sept. 28, 2011, until Oct. 2, 2011, the defendants failed to properly diagnose and treat Shahhaz Rumman’s septic miscarriage while a patient at Cabell Huntington Hospital.

The defendants deviated from the standard of medical care by failing to timely diagnose, failing to timely prescribe appropriate antibiotic medications, and failing to timely administer appropriate medications, according to the complaint.

The plaintiff contends the defendants’ negligence caused sepsis, cardiac arrest and Shahhaz Rumman’s death on Oct. 2, 2011.

The plaintiff is seeking more than jurisdictional minimum in damages. The estate is being represented in the case by C. Benjamin Salango of Preston & Salango PLLC.
