Medical conditions that qualify for Social Security Disability

The application for Social Security Disability and Social Security Disability Insurance can be daunting, especially when you are not sure what conditions will qualify you or a loved one for the program.  When applying for Social Security Disability, one should consider all conditions that could qualify the applicant for Social Security Disability.  Rather than allow guesswork when it comes to approving or denying claims, the Social Security Administration has created a list of all conditions that qualify for Social Security disability, and are listed in the Social Security Administration’s “Blue Book.”  This Blue book helps those reviewing claims to make decisions regarding the conditions presented in the initial application.

The most common conditions that qualify for social security include autoimmune disorders, disorders of the cardiovascular system, digestive disorders, mental or cognitive disorders, muscular impairments, and various forms of cancer to name a few.  This isn’t an all-inclusive list, as there are many sub categories to consider.  Again, additional conditions qualify for Social Security Disability and working closely with an attorney to complete legal paperwork is recommended. As always, if you have previously applied for Social Security Disability and your claim has been denied, work with experienced legal counsel to complete your appeal.

Autoimmune conditions include Multiple Sclerosis (MS), Lupis, and Rheumatoid Arthritis.  There are upwards of 80 autoimmune conditions that have similar symptoms, so it’s important to check with a medical professional to see if you may have one of these conditions or corresponding symptoms.  If you feel that you or a loved one has a medical condition that qualifies you for Social Security Disability Insurance but you have been denied a claim, please contact a Social Security Disability attorney to review your claim and help you complete your appeal.  It is best to have an experienced Social Security disability lawyer advocate for your Social Security Disability benefits.

Additionally, Cardiovascular disorders and digestive disorders are included as well.  Disorders such as high blood pressure, Chron’s disease and liver disease qualify as conditions for Social Security Disability Insurance.  It is important to work with your health care professional to review all conditions that you may have, as these are only the most common conditions listed.  Conditions listed in the Blue Book are also generally well documented, so it is important to work with your health care professional to provide the Social Security Administration with as much documentation as possible.

If you review the Blue Book and find that your specific condition may not be covered, check with your attorney if the specific symptoms are covered.  For example, if you suffer from severe migraine headaches you may face nausea and debilitating pain.  Such severe symptoms may be covered, albeit through other disorders as migraines are not listed as one of the conditions specifically covered.  Check with your Social Security Disability attorney to review your claim and be sure the initial claim or appeal is complete and thorough.   The Social Security Administration may allow the claim if the symptoms suffered by the applicant would prevent the applicant from working full time.  Again, review your claim with an attorney to be sure all your documents are in order when submitting your claim or appeal.

If you or a loved one previously applied for Social Security insurance and have been denied, work closely with experienced Social Security Insurance attorneys to review your claim and apply for an appeal.
